Dear Reader,
Have you ever wondered what its like to be an everyday person and become a hero in the military? Well this post should inform you about it. The reason that I choose this theme is because anyone who risks their life to fight for their country is a hero to me. In the book “Platoon,” it shows you that a person can become a hero even when they are just doing what they feel is right. I hope you enjoy my hard work.
Sincerely,
Troy Ferron
Eulogy for Garder
This is one of the most difficult things that I have ever had to do. You can’t sum up someone’s life within a paper. I barely knew Garder but, we were closer than a lot of people. Garder was a husband, a son, and a friend to many. Garder will be more of a hero than anyone of us. He died doing what he believed was right. I wish he could have been with us longer. Even when things where bad, he was always smiling. I’m going to miss him.
"A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer."-Ralf Waldo Emerson
"The ordinary man is involved in action, the hero acts. An immense difference."-Henry Miller
"The real hero is the man who fights even though he is scared."-Geroge Patton
Dear Diary,
Today I didn’t get any sleep. I haven’t sleep for 2 days but it seems like 4, and guess what, I’m on patrol tonight. We were attacked today, luckily we were prepared though. My feet hurt so I talked to the doc. He said I have trench foot and some infected blisters but there was nothing he could do. Not much else exciting happed but we killed a monkey, grilled and ate it for dinner
"Unhappy the land that is in need of heroes."-Bertolt Brecht
The first genre I did was a Eulogy for Garder. I did it because Garder and Chris became close at the beginning, then Garder was killed in an ambush. Then for my second genre I did a postcard from Chris to his family. I did this one because it shows how much he misses his family and wants to go home away from the war. For my third genre I did a wanted poster because some American soldiers killed and raped some innocent civilians. For my last genre I did a day in the life of Chris. The reason that I did this one out of all of my choices is because it shows how miserable Chris is and how hard he has to work just to survive. Thanks for reading!
